A newly erected Purple Heart memorial rests on the south side of Calvin Spencer Park. The Monument stands in honor of the sacrifices made by America's servicemen and servicewomen who were killed or wounded in combat. Jacob Olbrich undertook the project in November 2012 to earn his Eagle Scout Award, the highest advancement rank in scouting. With support from the community, and the help of fellow Scouts, Olbrich’s efforts have culminated in a new Marengo landmark.
