The McHenry County Historical Society in Union celebrated 50 years during the 2013 “Hip for History” Heritage Fair on July 14.

The new Marengo Guns is now open at 20014 E. Grant Hwy, Marengo. The 10,000 square foot retail showroom has new and antique guns; hunting, fishing, archery and camping gear; as well as Carhartt clothing, jeans, and Marengo spirit wear.

Marengo Main Street's First Annual ACC Festival

Memorial Day Ceremony 2013 held at the Marengo City Cemetery.

The Marengo-Union Chamber of Commerce organized the first ever WILD WIG WEEK (WWW) to raise money for Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC).

The second annual Daddy-Daughter Cinderella Dance welcomed 28 young ladies and their daddy escorts at the Marengo Park district.

Night at the Museum: Sixth grade students from Zion Lutheran School “become” a historical figure. Each student has spent time researching, investigating, and finally writing a speech that educates the museumgoers on the influence they have had on history. Not only is this event enjoyable, it is also very educational.

An award ceremony was held at MCHS on February 16 recognizing those chosen to be inducted into the 2013 Marengo Community High School Hall of Fame. Among the seven nominated was the 1942 football team.

Locust school provides valuable hands on learning activities at Farm Day.  Children participated in everything from cooking and weaving to caring for farm animals.
