My official last day as the Marengo Main Street Executive Director was June 10, 2011. I accepted a new position working at Del Webb in Huntley as the Standards Advisor for the Association Management.
I began working for Marengo Main Street on January 4, 2010. Since then, I have had the opportunity to work with so many wonderful people in the community. I want to specially thank everyone that has helped with Marengo Main Street projects, whether through volunteering or donations. The passion and support from these members, volunteers, and the local businesses, makes a difference and I truly believe will help downtown Marengo become vibrant. In addition, these outstanding individuals have made my job at Marengo Main Street one of the most rewarding experiences of my career. It is the goal of Marengo Main Street to preserve and promote downtown Marengo and to create a flourishing environment for the good of the whole community. Recently, we have made significant progress towards creating new pride in downtown with the tree and flower plantings and the Porch Quilts Summer Art Exhibit. I’ve also talked with several people in the community about a business start-up concept that would allow a new business to start at a low risk and include business assistance. This “business incubator” program has been very successful in other Main Street communities, helping to eliminate vacancies. This is something Marengo Main Street will continue to look into.
Finally, I want to welcome Amanda Seago, the new executive director of Marengo Main Street. She is young and energetic and I am confident that she will do a fantastic job in her new role. Again, thank you to members of the Marengo Main Street Board and committees. I cannot express enough how much I have enjoyed representing Marengo and working with everyone.
