Nice to meet you, Marengo! I am Amanda L. Seago, your new Executive Director of Marengo Main Street, Inc. I was fortunate to receive great guidance from Lucia, and look forward to showcasing how I can aid in the efforts to improve the downtown area and overall community. As many of you know, this is Main Street’s busiest time of year.
Every Friday from 3p.m.-7p.m. through October, the Farmers’ Market is located at the corner of Washington and Taylor. Vendors include: Earl Bird Farms, specializing in meats; Ready Jam Farms, with organic fruits, vegetables, herbs, homemade jams, and jellies; Mad Discs & Dyes, providing tie-dye garments and screen printing; and Chiro One Wellness Center, offering free spinal exams. For seniors, Salvation Army will hold registration during the month of July for the Seniors Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program. They will be giving $21 worth of free checks/vouchers to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables at the market. In addition, the market is approved to receive WIC Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program vouchers. Show your support and come out to the market this Friday. Also on the summer calendar is the Porch Quilt Art Exhibit, shown in downtown window displays through October 9th, ending with an auction at Saturday Night on Main Street. Watch our article and website for more information and pictures. Next up, Saturday July 16th from 7a.m.-3p.m. is our Community Garage Sale. Whether you are looking to sell or shop for the best bargains, you will enjoy the great variety. Residential registration is $20 ($30 for non residents), for two parking spaces and all the people you can handle. We want volunteers to ensure these events and others are a success. If you love Marengo and want to help it grow, contact us at 815-568-8440, or email@example.com today.
