Inside the Marengo Police Department, July 2011

As a follow-up to the column I wrote in April of this year, I wanted to outline the procedures for contacting the Marengo Police Department should you be in need of some police service. First and foremost, if you have an emergency situation, call 9-1-1. This facet of emergency response has not changed, (other than the physical call is not answered in Marengo any longer). Should you need to utilize this function; a trained tele-communicator will answer your call, whether it be on a cellular telephone or a landline. As always, be able to provide as much information as possible to the      tele-communicator so they can effectively get you the help you require. Secondly, should you need basic non-emergency information, you may still call the administrative police department telephone number at 815-568-7231. During the business hours of Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., and on Tuesday through Thursday from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m., we will have the front office staffed and able to relay your calls. All other times not listed, your calls will go to Lake in the Hills Police Department who will deal with such calls appropriately.
