Nancy McClure Turner Russell, 87, peacefully passed away on June 12, 2011, in Beaverton, Oregon. Born on April 16, 1924, in Beaver, Pennsylvania, to Theresa and Robert McClure, Nancy was raised in Ben Avon, Pennsylvania. She attended Stevens College in Columbia, Missouri, and DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana. She was an alumni of Alpha Phi Sorority. Nancy volunteered for the Red Cross during WWII and married George Versen Turner on July 21, 1945. The couple settled in Marengo, Illinois, in 1952 where they raised five children and were active in the community. Nancy worked as a nurse’s aide at nearby hospitals in Woodstock and Belvidere and served as president of the Marengo Women’s Club. Widowed in 1981, Nancy divided her time between Marengo and Naples, Florida, home of daughter Cathy and family. She eventually resided in Naples full-time with second husband Robert R. Russell who passed away in 2005. Nancy moved to Frisco, Texas, to be near daughter Sue and husband Chuck in 2010. The family was in the process of relocating to Beaverton, Oregon, when Nancy passed away there. She will be remembered for her love of life, traveling, bridge playing, reading, and second-to-none apple pie. Nancy is survived by her five children: Bob (Jade) Turner of Bellevue, Washington; Sue (Chuck) Clark of Beaverton, Oregon, and Celina, Texas; Richard (Martha) Turner of Aurora, Colorado; Jack (Jan) Turner of Littleton, Colorado; Cathy (Rick) Olson of Bozeman, Montana; four grandchildren: Sadie and Sophie Olson of Bozeman, Montana; Jessica and Matthew Turner of Aurora, Colorado; two sisters: Jean (the late Bob) Morrison of Mahomet, Illinois; Robin (Bill) Schwaiger of Monroe, Wisconsin. Others include: two step granddaughters; five step great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and their families.
