Breakfast-goers who attended the Sacred Heart Church Knights of Columbus pancake breakfast on March 26, 2011 in Marengo were pleasantly surprised to learn that blueberry pancakes were added to the menu.

“The pancakes were really, really, good,” said Haley Sergent, 7, a Marengo resident. “They should use blueberries every time. ”

The pancake breakfasts, which are priced at $6 for adults and $4 for kids, usually feature pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage links, biscuits and gravy, French toast, and cheesy potatoes. Proceeds from the KC pancake breakfasts go directly to a number of local, regional, national, and international charities and causes. Breakfasts in 2010 provided relief for a Marengo family that lost their home to a fire; a local family whose daughter sustained a serious gymnastics injury; Haitian earthquake victims; and many other noble causes.

It has not been determined whether blueberry pancakes will become a permanent fixture on the menu.
