Excitement rang throughout the halls of Marengo Community High School as prom tickets began to go on sale. Girls were deciding what color dresses they should wear and boys were stressing over dates as the air of prom began to make its way over the school.
On April 30, MCHS Prom 2011 was finally here! The theme of the prom was “When Night Falls.” The MCHS junior class had been planning for prom, and chose the colors black, purple, and silver--which filled the banquet hall at the Crystal Lake Holiday Inn on prom night.
“It’s a little warm in here; but everyone’s having a great time, and I’m enjoying myself,” said Bill Rahn, a student at McHenry County College, and a 2010 Graduate at MCHS.
Seniors, Erika Smith and Tyler VanVoorhees were chosen as the Prom King and Queen. Senior Prom Court candidates included: Krystin Fuller; Emily Lindstrom; Smith; Tyler Organger; VanVoorhees; and Jake Wajda. Juniors chosen were Emily Driver and Ben Klick. Junior Prom Court candidates included: Brooke Dolatowski; Driver; Andrea Edge; Dylan Baumann; Justin Gaines; and Klick.
“I’m having a good time,” Rebecca Grant, a junior at MCHS, said at Prom.
Alex McCoy, a senior at MCHS, said it was her second prom, and that she also, “had a great time.”
“It’s our senior year, for most of us,” said Adam Grant, a senior at MCHS. “We’re just hoping everyone has a good time and finishes the year strongly.”
