News from the Union Fire Department - June, 2011

Many of you had heard that the Marengo Dispatch Center was to be closed, and dispatch services for Marengo Police, Union Police, Marengo Fire, Marengo/ Union Rescue, and Union Fire Department all needed to contract with new dispatch services. Since Marengo and Union Fire work together on many scenes, the decision was made to work together on one location. After numerous site visits and meetings, the Union Fire officers; Chief Bradbury and Assistant Chief Frazier of Marengo Fire; and Marengo/Union Rescue, thought the City of McHenry would be a good fit. As of early May, both Union and Marengo Fire and Rescue, are now being dispatched through the City of McHenry. This involved some upgrades to equipment, training, and area familiarization for the new dispatchers. The Police Departments for Marengo and Union are being dispatched by Lake in the Hills Dispatch. The Union Fire Department wants to wish all the past employees of the Marengo Dispatch Center good luck and offer a sincere thank you for your years of service to the community! Your voices on the radios will be missed! If you know anyone that was a Marengo Dispatcher, please join us in saying thank you as well. They deserve the appreciation for their service to the communities of Marengo and Union! Again, THANKYOU.
