The Marengo Friday Farmer’s Market is up and running again starting June 17, 2011.
The market has a new location, a new time, as well as many new vendors.
“There will be seven permanent vendors this year and a variety of seasonal vendors that will come throughout the year,” said Jim Evans, the 2011 market manager.
Mr. Evans deals in organically-grown fruits, vegetables, and herbs as well as homemade jams, jellies and preserves that will be available every Friday from 3p.m. to 7p.m. in downtown Marengo.
The new location, in the Chase Bank overflow parking lot across from the Methodist Church downtown, will be spacious, shady, and easily visible from Grant Highway.
“It’s so convenient,” said Melissa Ritter, a resident of Woodstock. “I can pick up my fresh vegetables after work, and maybe a few cut flowers for my house.”
“In addition to local farmers, like Nichols Farm and Orchard and Hasselmann’s Farms in Marengo, there will be homemade soaps, ‘Magnificent Dips,’ and ‘Juice Plus,’” added Mr. Evans, “We hope to have some occasional music, crafters, and antiques as well.”
The market will be open rain or shine, every Friday from 3p.m. to 7p.m. on the corner of Washington and Taylor Street, and there will be a few special event openings such as Settler’s Days, the Downtown Community Garage Sale, Putt-Putt Days, and other times as well.
